Curiosity isn't optional - it's operational.

It's a discipline. A mindset. A leadership strength. Especially in the public sector right now.
Sir Brian Roche's call for curiosity this past Sunday speaks to something we see across all sectors:
👉 The gravity of "how we've always done it" is strong.
And just like it takes rocket fuel to escape Earth's gravitational pull, it takes energy - and courage - to break free from the status quo.
Another line from Sir Brian Roche makes the point, "The ability and willingness to disrupt yourself is a strength."
Because, it's not just about the appetite for new ideas.
It's about the stress tolerance to stay with the discomfort they bring.
Curiosity research backs this. It's not enough to want to know. We also need to be able to lean into the unknown and manage the tension it creates. As Kiwis might say, we've got to "handle the jandal".
So, I'm curious… 🧐
There are growing calls for curiosity - but are we ready for the discomfort that comes with it?
What are we doing to build the stress tolerance it requires?
