Can you really hide your intent? 🫣

If you're trying to, you're up against it. The combination of mirror neurons, micro expressions, body language and tone of voice makes it hard to conceal what is most important to us.
And if our dominant intent is all about us and what we need to achieve... well... it leaks and reeks 🤢
Gandhi captured it well, "The moment there is suspicion about a person's motives, everything [they do] becomes tainted."
This is a challenge for us as we prepare for a high-stakes conversation. The pressures we feel, and the demands we face, are like gravity: they pull us into our own world.
The effective negotiator works hard to overcome this and get into the other's world.
That work rarely happens in the moment. It happens because you prepared for it. It's a big part of what I've built into The Prepared Negotiator. More on that soon.
What helps you get out of your own world when the pressure is on?
