That spidey sense that whispers: you’re neglecting the people who really matter.
We hope the smile and quick pleasantries will be enough. But deep down, we know that those PayWave interactions aren’t cutting it. They’re efficient… but shallow.
But is it too much to ask?
Should we even feel guilty?
Isn’t this just the reality of work?
And then we meet them.
The ones who somehow manage to forge deeper connections AND deliver on the job. They’ve cracked the code - balancing task and relationship.
They know you can’t park a relationship and expect to return and find it in the same place. Because relationships drift. Slowly. Quietly. Inevitably.
But… what’s realistic? What’s reasonable? I mean, we can’t be everyone’s best buddy, right?
And therein lies the challenge.
It’s our call. The check-ins. The genuine moments. The unexpected care. They’re what feed and water a relationship. Leave it too long, and the drift takes hold.
It only takes something small to fight the drift. Nothing at all, and the current decides.
