That question might just be one of the highest-leverage ways to prepare, especially when the conversation could get tough.

🔹 Why does this matter?

Your mindset is like the spring that feeds the river.

Get the source right, and good things flow.

Mindset shapes how we listen, how we ask, and how we respond - even when the pressure is on.

Choosing who you want to BE - the shoes you want to step into for that meeting - is a potent way to shift your mindset, shaping how you show up.

🔹 What about other aspects of prep?

Yes - we should think through what needs to be said.

Yes - we should consider the behaviours that will make a difference.

But sometimes we’re fighting the clock, with no time for the full checklist.

🔹 That’s where your MVP comes in

Your Minimum Viable Prep. The essential prep you’ve already decided helps you bring your best when you’re up against the clock.

This was a focus this morning as we wrapped up our sixth cohort of the Trusted Influencer programme. As part of unpacking our preparation model, each person identified their own MVP - the one thing they’ll hold onto when time is tight.

🔹 Who could you choose to be?

Choosing who you want to be in that meeting is a worthy MVP.

What version of you do you want to be present? What character could you embody?

There are so many options. If you want an example, check out the video 🎬 I posted last week on being a Scout, not a Soldier.

That big question: What is your MVP?
